What and Where?
The Marathon des Sables -
a 151 mile (243km), 7 day endurance race across the Sahara
Desert
in Morocco
.
Most of the terrain is sand and rock
strewn tracks
and the Sahara has the highest sand
dunes on the planet - not for
nothing is this known as “The Toughest Footrace on Earth”.
Oh, and you have to carry all of the
food and equipment you need to survive in the desert
for a week
on your back!
Why?
Two reasons:-
1. It's a
"just want to". How else will I ever experience a real desert and be
able to push myself to the absolute limit of endurance?
2.
Well it may be a life-goal for me but if I am going to trash myself, I
may as well carry a good cause with me too. So I will be raising as
much money as possible for Children with Leukaemia.
